AL 266-1 consists of a single mandible missing some alveolar bone in the anterior section as well as vertical rami. All premolars are present, and most molars with the exception of LM2 and LM3. In a lower premolar morphocline of all Au. afarensis, AL 266-1 would be somewhere in the middle, with relatively more square P2, and a P1 that is relatively longer mesiodistally on its lingual side than its buccal side1.
